How to Know When you use A or An Before a Word

English and Humanities

If the word you are placing “a” or “an” before has a vowel sound like Apple or Orange it should have “an” before it, like this: An apple, an Orange. If the word has a consonant sound like Tiger or Bear, you should use “a” like this: a Tiger, a Bear.
